Lead Programmer

Orange Comet is seeking a Lead Programmer with expertise in C++ and Unreal. Our ideal candidate will bring wide-ranging experience across diverse programming disciplines within game development. We are open to filling this position with a Global Contractor.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead the various programming teams, ensuring that game development proceeds smoothly.
• Provide mentorship to programmers of varying skill levels to foster a culture of learning and growth.
• Participate in talent acquisition efforts, aiding in identifying, interviewing, and onboarding the right talent for the team.
• Conduct regular, thorough code reviews to ensure consistency and quality of the code base.
• Play an active role in the design and implementation of game features.
• Assist with task creation, scheduling and time estimations.
• Collaborate effectively with other team leads to satisfy requirements spanning areas such as functionality, scope, and performance.
• Continually seek opportunities to improve the production process and the quality of the game.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues within the game.
• Identify and help solve performance problems with the game.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in game development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated proficiency in C++ and Unreal.
• Strong leadership skills .
• Ability to work remotely and independently.
• Exceptional communication skills facilitating effective collaboration across teams and time zones.
• Prior experience with multiplayer game development.
• Shipped at least one title.

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with mobile game development.
• Understanding of multiple areas of game development such as networking, graphics, gameplay, engine, etc.
• Understanding of the full game production cycle, from conception to launch and live ops development.

Additional Information:

The base salary range for a full-time position is $80,000-$200,000 USD+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
