An operations technical project manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the IT server support team. They manage the team that provides support for the organization's server infrastructure, ensuring that systems and processes are running smoothly and that service level agreements are being met.

The primary duties and responsibilities of technical project manager includes:

  • Project planning and scheduling: Developing a detailed project plan, setting project timelines, and ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Resource allocation: Allocating resources and coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to ensure all resources are available to complete the project.
  • Risk management: Identifying and assessing project risks, developing risk mitigation strategies, and monitoring project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder management: Coordinating with project stakeholders including clients, vendors, and other departments within the organization to ensure project requirements are met and stakeholders are informed of project progress.
  • Quality control: Ensuring that project deliverables meet the required quality standards and conducting quality assurance tests to ensure the functionality of the IT infrastructure.
  • Communication and reporting: Communicating project progress to stakeholders through regular status reports, presentations, and other communication channels.
  • Server hardware and software: Ensuring server hardware and software are properly configured and maintained to support the organization's IT infrastructure needs.
  • Server virtualization: Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of virtual servers to improve IT infrastructure efficiency and scalability.
  • Server backup and recovery: Ensuring server backup and recovery systems are in place to protect data and minimize downtime in the event of a server failure.
  • Team management: Managing and leading a team of IT professionals responsible for supporting the organization's server infrastructure.
  • Service level management: Ensuring that service level agreements are being met and that service requests and incidents are being resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Incident management: Overseeing the process of identifying, logging, categorizing, prioritizing, and resolving incidents related to the server infrastructure.
  • Change management: Overseeing the process of managing changes to the server infrastructure, including scheduling, testing, and deployment.
  • Security management: Ensuring that the server infrastructure is secure, and that security policies and procedures are being followed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep interest in technology trends and awareness of the evolution of enterprise platforms
  • A consistent track record of handling a range of complex, high-impact projects with strong organizational leadership and influencing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influence, and communications skill with the proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Flexible and adaptable - Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and work in a diplomatic and tactful manner with others
  • Possess excellent leadership abilities and management skills with a proven record of strategic planning, productivity, and process improvement, change management, and budget and resource management
  • Solid technical background particularly in managing highly complex, multi-platform environments (servers, storage, networks, security, virtualization, systems monitoring and management)
  • Strong knowledge of current and trending security practices, regulations, and technologies

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
