Lead QA Automation Engineer

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer who will be responsible for the overall software test automation strategy, tools, technology, and process for CRSP products and software solutions. This role will collaborate with CRSP architecture and technologists to recommend, lead, and continuously improve the QA automation architecture and technical direction of test automation frameworks. You will play a lead role on a small but growing QA team, using your skills to help build a robust and flexible automation test framework as well as provide technical leadership. You will partner with QA Analysts, Software Engineers, DevOps and product owners to ensure that CRSP will continue delivering high-quality products to our subscribers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with CRSP architects and technologists to determine tools, technologies, and designs that fit within the overall enterprise architecture and help further its testing capabilities.
  • Bring industry best practices and lead the development of test automation strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain value adding, performant, and scalable automated testing solutions/frameworks.
  • Provide recommendations on new tools and innovations to increase the performance and efficiency of QA testing.
  • Work with Software Development engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented.
  • Work with DevOps resources to integrate automated regression testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advance product quality via testing innovations and process improvements.
  • Effectively troubleshoot problems reported both internally and by subscribers, and report clearly and accurately to appropriate parties.
  • Evaluate, document, and test software to verify functionality and performance according to specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborate and work effectively with CRSP developers, business analysts, QA resources, and other stakeholders to understand the business requirements and testing strategy. Strike a balance between ideal testing and available resources while establishing long-term quality targets.
  • Present effectively to superiors in areas of responsibility (i.e. progress reports).

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Business, Finance, or related fields preferred.
  • Working knowledge of financial research and investment concepts and terminology.
  • Working knowledge of software packages - SAS, Python, or other 3 rd party software.
  • Experience with Git, Jira and test management tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with proficiency in C#, Java, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripts or other shell script writing.
  • Experience with Selenium.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with strong engineering best practices, unit testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and automated testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Octopus Deploy, TeamCity or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in API and UI testing.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as xUnit, MSTest, JUnit, and TestNG.
  • Familiarity with BDD syntaxes such as Gherkin, as well as any BDD framework such as SpecFlow or Cucumber.
  • Performance and stress testing experience with relevant automation and monitoring tools.
  • Self-starter with a drive to make an impact.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least 7+ years of quality assurance or other relevant experience required.
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, and test data required.
  • Proficiency in SQL required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with QA automation required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem solving, and organizational skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities required.

    WORK SCHEDULE:
    Index Team modification: Hours of operation are approximately 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Must be able to start either early morning (as early as 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) or late morning (as late as 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM) at times to provide production coverage for the team. Some flexibility may be required. Extended hours may be required for applications support in the event of a production problem.
