Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) at Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Lead Robotics & Automation Engineer to join our team in support of Commercial and Military Engine programs .
Our team members are primarily located in East Hartford, Connecticut but we work with the Pratt & Whitney enterprise across the world. Our customers are the Pratt & Whitney Business Units, Engine Centers and Depots in the United States and Worldwide. We conduct studies, benchmark competitors, and develop and implement technologies, filling technical gaps.
In this role you will lead the ASE technology portfolio and strategy for current and future military and commercial repair technolog in the areas of Robotics and Automation. As an individual contributor, you will provide expertise to projects in your field and create development and transition plans for automation around AMO Business Units.

Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) at Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Lead Robotics & Automation Engineer to join our team in support of Commercial and Military Engine programs .

In this role you will lead the ASE technology portfolio and strategy for current and future military and commercial repair technolog in the areas of Robotics and Automation. As an individual contributor, you will provide expertise to projects in your field and create development and transition plans for automation around AMO Business Units.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and testing of robotic applications in the areas of repair processes and engine assembly/disassembly processes.
- Design and build prototypes, products and systems to perform integration tests, process validation and quality control.
- Establish a comprehensive technology strategy in Robotics and Automation to support the AMO Technology deployment goals.
- Lead and coordinate alignment between multiple groups and organizations to develop and deploy technology projects to AMO in Robotics and Automation
- Partner AMO in Execution of AMO/ASE Technology deliverables and Cost Reduction initiatives meeting Long Range Plan targets.
- Establish standard work and deliverables, including short- and long-term objectives for technology strategic focus.
- Support a safety-first work culture that exceeds safety performance goals and strives towards zero injuries.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable RTX and Pratt & Whitney policies and procedures including individual employee awareness of responsibility and accountability.
- Masters or advanced degree in Robotics, Electrical and Computer Engineering or in a similar field.
- At least 8 years of experience in developing, testing in robotics applications or 5 years with an Advanced degree
- Relevant research/work experience in a) Robotic manipulation, b) Robot motion planning, and c) Multi-robot coordinated control.
- Proficiency in FANUC, ABB, and KUKA robotics sytems and PLC.
- Proficiency in Robotic Programming techniques and off-line programming tools (RobotStudio, RoboGuide, NXRobot).
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and Matlab development in Linux environments (desired).
- Familiarity with various industry communication protocols for use in devices such as sensors, actuators, motors, and controllers.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of Pratt & Whitney's Engines Repair, PW Repair Centers, and PW Engine Services business is helpful.
- Advanced knowledge & experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial business. Aviation and Aftermarket experience would be a big plus.
