Lead Site Reliability Engineer – Reliability Engineering

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors LLC has an opening for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer – Reliability Engineering in New York, NY, and Miami, FL.

The position duties are as follows: Develop a depth of understanding of how all the systems at Schonfeld work together, how they fail, how they can be improved and how they can be designed and monitored in the most optimized way and will share this understanding with other engineers across the firm. Day-to-day job duties will include:

• Formulating a Site Reliability Engineering roadmap by conducting analysis of current systems and developing plans and recommendations for implementation.
• Working with Product Owners and Technology teams to define and implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
• Coordinating installation of relevant software systems.
• Creating a hiring plan for the Site Reliability Engineering practice that will maximize the growth and reliability of the Schonfeld’s applications.
• Analyzing software application metrics to prioritize resources to address reliability issues.
• Determining system performance standards and creating frameworks to enhance application performance observability.
• Reviewing application and system architecture with the company’s technology teams and rearchitecting for reliability, resiliency, and supportability.
• Reviewing application code with the company’s development teams to enhance reliability of proprietary applications.
• Continually monitoring for any potential upgrades or improvements to the company’s applications and systems and developing recommendations for implementation.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or a foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely-related technical field that includes substantive technical coursework in advanced computer science and software engineering, or foreign equivalent, followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience designing, developing and supporting distributed financial applications. Experience must include:

1. 5 years of experience using software development tools (including Python, Go, C, C++, or Java) and working with software systems and advising on implementation and installation.
2. 5 years of experience analyzing reliability issues.
3. 5 years of experience reviewing application code and application and system architecture.
4. 5 years of experience using Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, and Splunk to analyze and create frameworks for application performance observability.
5. 5 years of experience working in front office systems.
6. 5 years of experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure.
7. 5 years of experience using MySQL, PostGreSQL, and Oracle
8. 3 years of experience using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Openshift.
9. 3 years of experience using Jenkins and Gitlab.

Telecommuting permitted up to two (2) days per week.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $290,000 to $300,000/year. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
