We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Lead Software Engineer supporting Digital Engineering Team in Ft. Worth, TX, you will be trusted to lead our team of developers in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in multiple programming languages, web development frameworks, databases, and cloud platforms.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Lead the development team in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications.
• Design complex software systems for scalability, performance, and security. And ability to design and implement microservices architecture using Spring MVC (Java Spring Boot) and Spring Cloud frameworks.
• Implementing design patterns and best practices for building high-performance backend services, ensuring that the software application is secure and protected from potential security breaches.
• Design, develop, and implement robust backend features using, adhering to best practices.
• Participate in design and sprint reviews to identify and remove technical impediments, shape the trajectory of our products, and improve patient outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely task completion while collaborating effectively within a dynamic team.
• Ensure that the software application is thoroughly tested and debugged before it is released.
• Keep up with the latest technologies and industry trends to ensure that the software application is using the most up-to-date and effective tools.
• Work closely with Product team & Solution Architects to release features and additions.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs;Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• Travel requirements: 10% Domestic
