WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for strong Lead Software Engineer to be a part of the global tech planning engineering team. This role will serve as a technical guide for the team as they build scalable, low-latency, resilient supply chain platforms to drive Nike's Digital transformation and growth strategies. Someone who can build and foster a strong engineering team in partnership with multi-functional geography and global teams to scale and deliver high-quality capabilities and solutions across our network. The candidate needs to have strong communication skills, the ability to handle up and down, tackle sophisticated problems, and be an encouraging leader and phenomenal teammate.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

Owns the design and development of a technical solution that meets the needs of the business and aligns with architectural and quality standards, and optimally integrates solutions delivered with adjacent and tertiary solutions/technologies.

Leads small- to moderate-sized solutions, or plays a key role on larger teams, working within the parameters of two to three sprints.

- Provides direction to team members and/or vendors.

- Provides leadership within the squad/work team, with accountability for ensuring that work is on track (e.g., driving backlog refinement), required functionality and an effective user experience are delivered, and upstream and downstream interdependencies are accounted for, making certain that solutions delivered integrate effectively with adjacent solutions/technologies.

- Ability to serve as a critical technical lead in major business solution projects, from ideation to implementation.

- Demonstrated ownership of system(s) with a proactive approach in anticipating concerns and developing strategies to address and improve value.

- Strong understanding of technical requirements and their impact on team members.

- Established credibility and effective working relationships with technical and non-technical colleagues and/or the vendor community.

- Ability to hold team members accountable to quality standards and ensure a high-quality user experience is delivered.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or any combination of proven experience, education, and training

- A minimum of 5-8 years of software development experience

- Experience working in a distributed / cloud-based environment (e.g. Amazon EC2, Azure etc.)

- Experience in crafting and implementing distributed, highly scalable, and resilient web applications

- Experience in microservice architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, or Python

- Experience working with NoSQL data stores

- Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

- Exposure to Supply Chain domain areas like inventory management, supply planning

- Exposure to implementing or integrating with enterprise scale packages like SAP S4, o9

- Solid understanding of Scrum and agile principles

- Comfortable working with globally distributed and teams with varied strengths

- Dedication to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews

- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
