Lead Software Engineer

Maersk is strengthening its software development organization, focusing on driving predictability, reducing cost of ownership, and increasing agility in our technology. We are looking for a Software Engineer with technical skills and experience working in agile projects to help shape development within Maersk Technology.

In this role, you will be responsible for the technical realization of solutions, ensuring each solution is architected and designed in accordance with enterprise application roadmaps, standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop cloud-native, distributed systems.
• Ensure high quality and low cycle times through modern development practices and automation.
• Drive features through to completion and take responsibility for the value we deliver.
• Engage in discussion on technical design and architecture, both in your team and across Maersk's Communities of Practice.
• Collaborate with product owners and user experience experts on converting business needs to solutions.Support our product operations with instrumentation and monitoring and respond to incidents.
• Identify growth areas for teammates and coach / engage EM to foster this growth
• In absence of leadership, able to manage team for 3-6 months, and manage work for 6-12 months

Seeks to understand org-wide picture and adjacent opportunities for team

Impact & Delivery :

• Owns team delivery across multiple initiatives
• Strong advocate for the product
• Drives multi-half projects to completion
• Come up with success metrics, and maintain a data-driven approach in decision making
• Failure impacts overall team delivery, potentially jeopordising wider org initiatives
• Clear connection between individual effort and team success

Engineering Excellence :

• Own team-wide excellence metrics, and ensures proper effort and tracking is in place
• Considered an expert in tech stack used, and able to quickly jump-in and resolve issues facing team
• Align team with wider org goals related to engineering excellence
• Understands org strategy and ensures team projects are forward-compatible

Team Direction :

• Partner with EM to set team's tech strategy
• dentifies potential areas of impact, and seeks to break it down into actionable projects
• Lead multiple senior/junior engineers in delivering complex multi-half initiatives
• Actively develops succession plans in team

Requirements:

• Experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks, including at least one of Ruby on Rails, C# and .Net Core, JavaScript.
• Experience of developing RESTful APIs and micro services.
• Experience working on low latency, highly scalable applications.
• Experience working with databases - MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL server, Oracle, AWS Aurora, NoSQL or something similar.
• Experience with development and deployments in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is a plus
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Powershell & GitHub Actions.
