Lead Software Engineer, Data

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on lead software engineer to lead development and implementation of Data Distribution Platform within Data group at MarketAxess. This is hands on role and will be responsible for leading engineering team members. You will be working closely with other team members in proposing & implementing the solutions. You will establishing & leading with meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions.

You should be passionate about technology, software engineering, quality, and innovatively addressing business problems. You will work with the team to collaborate on software solutions and ensure exceptional software engineering practices, quality, and good documentation. How You’ll Help Take Us There

• Lead a team of bright and enthusiastic engineers to deliver a robust data delivery platform
• Apply your knowledge to build apps using latest technologies, frameworks hosted on cloud infrastructure
• Ensure technology decisions align with enterprise standards and strategy
• Evaluate and recommend technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market
• Collaborating with peer architects seeing opportunities to refactor business processes, improve customer experience or perform capability rationalization
• Work closely with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration
• Provide technical leadership and hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions

 What We’re Looking for

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent
• Minimum of 10+ years of industry experience in an architecture and/or software engineering role
• Deep hand-on experience in software development with Java, event driven paradigms, Spring Framework/Spring Boot with a platform first architecture mindset
• Deep knowledge of application platforms like FIX, Kafka, Ignite, Containers
• Deep knowledge in ETL / ELT / API / Stream processing technologies
• Good understanding in Database technologies including RBDMS, TimeSeries, BigData etc.
• Experience with building and delivery API frameworks using solutions like GraphQL
• Experience with building CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrable ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long term vision and risk in developing strategic technical solutions
• Proven and comprehensive knowledge of APIs, UIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and new technologies
• Authoritative understanding of the agile development process and DevOps practices
• Ability to work both independently and with all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical team members
• Strong presentation skills: written and verbal communication including the ability to influence

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $175,000 USD to $250,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity and other benefit programs.
