Lead Staff Software Engineer (Database Platform) (Irvine, CA)

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain impactful improvements across the Database Platform, resulting in high-quality outcomes. Build and run processes to support innovation and ideation for the Database operations team, including sourcing ideas from industry best practices, user research, and team member brainstorming. Collaborate with team members, product managers, and engineering leadership to ensure best practices across code. Handle individual initiative priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with respect to database administration. Guide the direction of database and platform architecture within the operations org and overall, in the company’s infrastructure. Complete work in accordance with architectural decisions, proposing changes to enhance or extend company architecture as necessary. Leverage data from internal and external sources to provide analytical support for product and engineering decisions. Design and implement high-performance, scalable, and secure SQL Server database solutions to support company vision. Take ownership of the database platform's strategic direction, actively shaping its future vision, and effectively communicate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment with business goals. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to StubHub Inc. at 100 Spectrum Center Drive, Irvine, CA 92618. Salary: $225,000 to $275,000 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Database Engineer, Software Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title involving full-stack engineering.

In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept 7 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Database Engineer, or any occupation/position/job title involving full-stack engineering.

Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience engineering, designing, building, operating, and maintaining SQL Server, including architecting and building scalable on-premises and cloud environments; 5 years of professional experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems; 5 years of professional experience writing complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures and performing database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization; 5 years of professional experience utilizing database security, backup, and recovery best practices; 5 years of professional experience building and deploying SQL Server enterprise solutions; 5 years of professional experience administering virtual machines in Azure; 5 years of professional experience with development administration, DevOps, Powershell, and automation using SQL (including SQL Server in memory OLTP, SQL Query Store, SQL AlwaysOn, and DAGs); 3 years of professional experience using Azure Administration including Azure SQL Platform, Azure Data Explorer, SQL Managed Instances, and Azure Storage; 3 years of professional experience analyzing data building reports; 3 years of professional experience performing data migration, ETL processes, and data integration; and 1 year of professional experience developing CI/CD Pipelines in Azure DevOps or Github.
