Lead Structures Tech, Haven, 1st Shift

Vast is looking for a Lead Structures Technician to support the development and fabrication of the Haven-1 structure, Vast’s first artificial-gravity human-rated space station. This will be a full-time exempt position based at our Long Beach Headquarters. 

The Lead will need to interact with Production and Development teammates, coordinate resources, structural weld aerospace parts, fabricate and assembly tooling to support welding operations. 

Responsibilities: 

• Weld Development and Production of the Haven Structure
• Jig Development and Adjustment
• Ensure quality of work, check own work and work of others in department
• Self-starter, highly motivated working in a fast-paced department
• Regularly handle large parts in excess of 50lbs
• Experience with band saws, circular saws, grinders, and other fabrication equipment
• Material handling of raw goods and finished weldments
• Sheet metal fabrication including Rolling 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
• Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environments
• 5+ years welding experience in sheet metal or aerospace industries

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Aerospace manufacturing experience
• Able to follow written and verbal instruction
• Experience with weld prep methods for stainless and aerospace welding standards
• MIG, TIG, & robotic welding sheet metal
• General Fabrication and simple machining. 
• Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime to support critical mission milestones
