As a Lead Developer, you would lead a team of developers and drive best practices that address the strategic needs of Northern Trust’s client-facing banking platform.

What You Will Do

The Lead Developer is a collaborative problem solver who leads with empathy, takes ownership of projects and:

• Contributes to an open culture that enables employees’ development through direct but kind feedback, promotes diverse perspectives and fosters a sense of curiosity and optimism
• Leads developers in the creation of new or enhanced software and technical design documents in an Agile environment
• Creates and maintains a technical capability roadmap, and collaborates and communicates with stakeholders and partners at all levels
• Continuously looks for ways to improve the application’s stability, scalability and user experience
• Addresses architecture security and owns the team’s approach to technical risks and mitigation

Your Knowledge and Skills

As a Lead Developer, you must have experience with at least some, but not all, of the following:

• Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of the Java Platform and Enterprise APIs, with Java Programming experience and a desire to learn more
• Experience designing high-performance, reliable and scalable database applications, as well as building web-based applications, in an Agile environment
• Experience communicating to both technical and business audiences
• Experience using at least some of the following languages: JEE, J2EE, Java, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, DevOps, Cloud Computing (IaaS, PaaS and Saas) especially AZURE, Docker Hub (Compose, Containers, Images and Machine), APIs, SOAP and RESTful interfaces, ANT, GIT, Gradle, Maven, Npm, Spring (Spring Batch and Spring Boot), Bootstrap, CSS3, HTML4, React.js, Node.js/JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL

The following nice-to-haves represent just a few of the other experiences that may be relevant to this position:

• Using UML sequence/class/communication diagrams, robustness diagrams and other agile development practices
• Experience in financial services
