Ascend Learning is hiring a motivated, energetic Lead Systems Analyst with strong communication and analytical skills for multiple distributed teams on our Tech & Ops Data Analytics team. This candidate will work in the Leawood, KS office/hybrid preferred. Remote considered.
The Ascend Analytics department plays a vital role in driving the success of the company by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis. Our team is responsible for collecting, storing, and interpreting large data sets to support decision-making and identify new business opportunities. We work closely with different departments across the organization to provide data-driven solutions that help the company grow and thrive. The primary role of the Lead System Analyst is to analyze systems, data flows, relationships and integrations that exist across multiple platforms. Also, document and design artifacts partnering with architects, business stakeholders, and product owners. Ensure the development team has clarity on requirements and work breakdown, track work progress and report on it.
The Lead System Analyst will work with product owners, stakeholders and data engineers on the design, testing, and implementation of solutions. This position reports into the Senior Manager - Software Engineering on the Data Analytics team.
Responsibilities
- Interact with product owners and business stakeholders to understand business context, processes, KPIs and gain necessary data understanding.
- Document business KPIs and other design artifacts as necessary to ensure a systematic approach to the development of analytics solution.
- Perform system and data analysis to establish relationships between systems and underlying data.
- Develop data flow overviews and diagrams
- Coordinate with architects and cross platform teams to understand system integrations, scenarios, and data patterns in disparate data sets
- Identify adherence to Data Governance and perform data quality analysis
- Provide hands-on guidance for delivering actionable insights.
- Ensuring that development team has clarity on requirements and work breakdown
- Tracking progress of engineering team and report on it
- Lead team of engineers, remove roadblocks and coordinating with other teams to ensure smooth delivery
- Prepare team for ART events by facilitating requirement clarification meetings for work to be done during SAFe Program Increments
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 6 years of system and data analysis experience
- Experience analyzing business processes, software systems, and flow of information
- Minimum 2 years of experience of leading team of engineers
- Minimum 3 years of SQL and relational databases experience
- Experience with the Agile methodologies; SAFe and SCRUM preferred but not required
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of users including product owners, developers, offshore teams, and management
- Strong system analysis skills, critical thinker, and attention to detail
