Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a dedicated Lead System Development Engineer with a strong technical background who can create, develop, and scale up our engineering process initiatives needed to deliver engineering products for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor technology. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and takes pride in their engineering skillset, leadership experience, organizational skills and attention to detail while being able to actively demonstrate an innovative and flexible mindset to process and process development that best meets the need of the business.
Responsibilities
- The Lead Process Development Engineer will work directly with the Director of Engineering Integration on engineering process initiatives to maximize solutions and drive efficiencies across Kairos Power engineering workstreams.
- This role will be very hands on and will be expected to drive and deliver results by collaborating with cross-functional workstreams to ensure effective processes evolve/scale with business needs
- Leverage strong technical background/experience for driving and delivering the continuous optimization and improvement of existing processes and workflows; as well as, identifying new/innovative standardizations while keeping Kairos Power engineering agile
- Provide process development leadership to other engineers, mentoring teammates, and articulating and championing the Kairos mindset.
- Performing administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical, manufacturing, process or other related technical discipline
- 5+ years of progressive engineering experience working in the full lifecycle of products from concept, design, testing, and manufacture in a development-to-production environment within a highly regulated industry
- 3+ years with progressive experience in continuous improvement and organizational efficiency (may overlap with years of engineering experience)
- 2+ years of experience providing direct supervision to a technical team
- A scrappy team player, who will actively pitch-in wherever necessary - with excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Desire and ability to function in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and adjust workload based upon changing priorities under tight timing constraints
- Ability to think outside of the box and challenge the status quo
- Impeccably organized with careful attention to detail
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team
- Ability to problem solve quickly and efficientlyÂ
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
- Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

Physical Conditions
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
Environmental Conditions
- General office environment
- Noisy environments (if visiting manufacturing areas to collaborate)
Safety and PPE
- Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
- Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Color identification: detecting, distinguishing, recognizing and identifying colors
- Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes, as required
Travel
- Some travel may be required (up to 20%) to other Kairos Power offices and customer locations

- Requires occasional extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
