As the Lead Systems Engineer, you will be a technical engineering leader for Allegion's next generation IoT platform connecting Allegion's electromechanical locks and access control systems for Residential and Commercial environments. In this role, you will be a key contributor to a team of cross-functional product development engineers and have responsibility for overall product definition, architecture development, and system integration activities that span software, firmware, electrical, and mechanical design components. You will be primarily focused on working with internal and external stakeholders to define solution level software requirements, ensuring that device manufacturers and Allegion's software integration partners are delighted with the solution offered by the IoT platform.

What You Will Do:

• Work with business leaders to define product requirements that meet customer, marketing, and internal stakeholder needs
• Contribute to the Agile Release Train (ART) PI Planning ceremony, ensuring the agile software teams can meet the delivery needs required by the business
• Provide architectural guidance to the agile teams ensuring that the needs of the business are met by the engineering design of the product
• Elicit, document, and clearly communicate solution requirements inclusive of non-functional requirements (NFR), compliance, and performance
• Work with key stakeholders to define interface control documents (ICDs) for next generation Allegion devices connecting to Allegion's IoT platform
• Contribute to external standards bodies on relevant standards and influence Allegion product development with feedback on industry direction
• Lead Risk Management for engineering deliverables
• Present design trade-offs as necessary to ensure the highest level of product performance and quality when considering product cost, manufacturability, sustainability, and available technologies
• Ensure designs meet product requirements (functional, cost, quality, reliability, etc.) and that requirement risks are evaluated and mitigated early in the process
• Lead problem-solving activities utilizing the appropriate tools, such as fault-tree analysis, 5-why analysis, and fishbone diagrams to get to the root cause
• Be the technical contact for key customers and OEM partners as new products are introduced into the marketplace
• Provide clear communications to technical team members as well as to other leaders and managers

What You Need to Succeed:

• BS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• At least 8 years' experience in access control, consumer products, automotive, aerospace, medical, or IoT devices
• You have demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering processes including design by requirements, traceability, and verification and validation
• You bring experience in product design from concept to production
• You can lead project teams to deliver complex programs and bring strong engineering project management skills
• You're a creative thinker with high initiative and high achievement goals
• You can provide technical coaching and mentoring
• You ideally have experience with SOC2 certification.
• You ideally have a knowledge of cybersecurity methods and protocols, experience with cloud service architectures (AWS, Azure) and low-power wireless communications products (WiFi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, ZWave, etc), and mobile apps.
• Travel requirements: 20%

Compensation:

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual salary will be based on your skills and experience, along with other factors.

• The expected Base Salary Range: $76,000 - $147,400. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
