Lead Technical Accounting Analyst
Position Summary
The Lead Technical Accounting Analyst in Global Operations provides research and analysis on technical accounting matters for business partners internationally and has responsibility for key corporate accounting functions. This position serves as a key advisor to help the company solve global accounting issues and the appropriate interpretation and application of U.S. GAAP accounting. The ideal candidate for this position is a results-oriented, bright, resourceful, service driven finance professional with an exceptional eye for detail, strong written communication skills and a desire to sharpen their technical accounting skills. The Lead Technical Accounting Analyst is a direct report to the Global Operations Controller. This position has a high level of visibility to finance leadership and requires interaction with all levels of Company management and staff in headquarters, business, regional and functional organizations.

Principle Duties:
Technical accounting & oversight
- Support global finance personnel with interpretation of company finance policies and U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain, update, and enhance company finance policies.
- Conduct U.S. GAAP research and white papers.
- Participate in quarterly reviews with regions, business units and functions.
- Implementation of new accounting standards.
- Educate global finance team of new and existing U.S. GAAP pronouncements through formal trainings and other ad-hoc communications as necessary.
Corporate accounting
- Global consolidated pension accounting, including facilitation of external actuarial valuations, cash flow reporting, and tax support
- Derivatives and hedging
- General warranty accounting
- Environmental liability accounting
- Workers' compensation and product liability accounting
- Legal & other contingencies
- Quarter and year end 10-Q and 10-K reporting requirements for corporate accounting areas
Other
- Work closely with internal & external auditors in the quarterly review, annual audit, and Sarbanes Oxley compliance process.
- Complete special projects and analyses as requested by management.
- Drive finance process improvements to improve efficiencies.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and a CPA
- Typically requires a minimum of 5-8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- In depth understanding of technical U.S. GAAP accounting standards and research
- Big 4 public accounting firm experience and exposure to global industrial companies preferred.
- The ability to proactively manage multiple short-range and long-range tasks, as well as tight deadlines and time sensitive pressures, and remain even-tempered.
- Willingness to adapt work schedule and communication style to effectively communicate with global personnel of different cultures and time zones.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo to enhance productivity, processes, and procedures.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability and desire to assume additional responsibility and be a candidate for other roles in the medium-term.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Wdesk and Microsoft Office products preferred.
