About Ceribell
Ceribell Inc. is a rapidly growing venture capital backed medical technology startup based in Sunnyvale, CA. Ceribell deploys a cloud-linked, portable electroencephalogram (EEG) device to assess brain waves in minutes to identify the occurrence of seizures in emergency rooms and intensive care units. The Ceribell system is comprised of a brain stethoscope that converts brain waves into sound, enabling nurses and doctors to quickly diagnose seizures in order to more quickly administer live saving therapies. Ceribell received the first ever FDA 510(k) clearance for a digital seizure detection algorithm, and is growing its customer base and revenue rapidly. The Role
The Lead UX Designer will own the user experience across Ceribell’s products (hardware and software) and web platforms. In this role you will be responsible for end-to-end design of the user experience, interaction design, and visual design for our user interfaces and experience touchpoints. You will author the Ceribell Design Language, developing easy to use, elegant user interfaces which will drive adoption of Ceribell within its diverse clinical domains. We are looking for an expert at managing ambiguity; someone who can identify the most valuable opportunities quickly and take action.Â
The Lead UX Designer will report to the Sr. Director of Product & Design
What You’ll Do
- Understand users, business and societies, framing the problem with a strong focus on user needs and requirementsÂ
- Creating user focused strategies, innovations, solutions and experiences and the user testing and validation of these, considering usability, projected adoption growth and appropriate visual and verbal articulation in line with the Ceribell design language system
- Executing on scope, driving own efficiency, delivering appropriate design quality within budget and project parametersÂ
- Focusing on the customer, collaborating, partnering and co-creating with internal and external stakeholders, with clear and impactful communication and articulation of design decision makingÂ
- Contributing to effective teamwork, receiving guidance and being a proactive team player, offering a point of viewÂ

​Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to own design from end to end
- Ability to convert customer needs and product feedback into valuable insights that can significantly improve the UI and design of our products
- Ability to prototype interactive experiences
- Ability to think strategically, and describe strategic direction in collaboration with Product Management
- Strong interaction design skills and passion for visual design
- Expertise in creating, leveraging and extending design systems
- Ability to collaborate with other designers, product managers and cross-functional teams
- Strong communication skills; able to effectively communicate a design and vision through text, speech, and imagery
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Design, Design Research or related field or equivalent professional Design training experienceÂ
- 7+ years of UX/product design experienceÂ
- A strong portfolio showcasing your work, this will be assessed during hiring process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing both web and mobile interfaces, medical device experience a plus but not required
- Technical background or familiarity with software engineering, product development, embedded software systems
- Proven track record of shipping high quality products
