We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Leadership Communications Manager on our Enterprise Communications team. This position can be hybrid (working from both office and home), with a schedule to be determined by business needs.
As a Leadership Communications Manager, you will manage proactive outreach to secure new speaking engagements for AMAleaders, including the CEO, Board of Trustees and senior management. Maintainsrelationships with other business units within the AMA to help coordinate anorganization-wide strategy to raise visibility of senior leaders and promotethe AMA's strategic priorities and initiatives to influential organizations andaudiences. Advises on strategy to position AMA leaders at a variety of venuesthat advance the organization's communications goals. Manages relationshipsinternally and externally to facilitate communications planning and helpcoordinate, schedule and track all public-facing speaking assignments for theAMA and its leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership Visibility
- Leads outreach, planning and execution to secure speaking opportunities for AMA leadership at a variety of conferences and venues across the U.S.
- Develops compelling pitches that external partners want to engage with and place AMA.
- Builds and manages relationships internally and externally with sponsors of industry and leadership conferences, forums, symposia and other events in order to secure favorable agenda placement for the president and other company executives
- Facilitate communications planning and helps coordinate, schedule and track all public-facing speaking assignments for the AMA and its leaders
- Workswith the Director of Leadership Communications to create a framework for bettercoordination and maintain relationships within the AMA to raise the visibilityof senior leaders and promote the AMA's strategic vision, priorities andinitiatives
Program Assessment
- Develops and manages Leadership Communications analytics
- Measures the audience, impact and reach of AMA leadership
Writing
- Researches, applies messaging framework, drafts and prepares speeches, op-ed pieces, presentations, columns, talking points and other materials for officers, trustees and executives as needed
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree required in communications, marketing, business or related discipline.
- A minimum of five years experience in managing aspects of the communication and/or marketing process.
- A minimum of four years project management experience with increasing levels of responsibility as demonstrated by project scope and impact.
- Professional writing experience required, strong communication skills including briefings, presentations, internal communications and reports.
- Political savvy and able to efficiently communicate with stakeholders at different levels; and collaborative with management, internal experts and external partners to build relationships and achieve consensus with grace under pressure.
- Strong analytic skills, proven experience in using data to inform communications strategies and brand positioning.
- Demonstrated success in managing and prioritizing multiple, complex tasks and responsibilities across different business units.
- Travel required.
