Position Summary

While reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, you will have responsibility for leading our Continuous Improvement program within our selected site. This role will champion structured problem-solving strategies (Lean/Six Sigma) and oversee program execution, keeping pace with growth and business challenges. You be expected to mentor, influence, and coach leaders and project teams to ensure successful deployment of initiatives, and alignment of continuous improvement principles, concepts, and methodologies. Additionally, you will lead the structured problem-solving implementation and sustainment of process optimization with a focus on key performance indicators. In this role, you will be seen as a change agent for the organization and as such, must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to accurately assess business and operational metrics through data analytics.
  • Using CI techniques to evaluate manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments and learning tools.
  • Coaches and develops operating team in the use of continuous improvement techniques and thinking.
  • Functions as a core team member and subject matter expert in working sessions designed to cross-functionally improve business operations.
  • Provide clear work instructions, training, and design systems to promote sustainability of improvements.
  • Facilitate multi-day Kaizen events & workshops with cross-functional teams ranging from operations to executive leaders.
  • Sustain good 5S standards and supplement the efforts of and effectively interface/integrate with quality, lean and safety team members.
  • Collaborate with plant scheduling to best utilize equipment, manning, and time.
  • Perform time/motion studies and balance business or factory processes for optimal work flow of people, material and information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications; and work-related instruction skills.
  • Responsible for assisting with the GEMBA walks and ensuring safety actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for following all safety procedures and encouraging a positive safety environment within the plant.

Requirements

Education Required

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) with a Six Sigma Yellow Belt or greater; Bachelors degree with focus in Engineering or field of study related to continuous improvement preferred
Range of Experience

  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or continuous improvement experience.
  • Proven track record of leading lean initiatives to achieve business results.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and utilizing resources to drive results.
  • Demonstrated time management skills who is consistently able to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts if needed.
  • Proven & effective facilitation, leadership, mentoring, and training skills needed.
  • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database management software.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem solving (root-cause analysis), and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, supporting or leading process improvement projects, such as time-studies, cell efficiency improvement, waste and scrap reduction, plan for every part (PFEP), raw material utilization.
  • Experience partnering with safety and operations leadership.
  • Candidate possesses a Six Sigma Yellow Belt or greater.
  • Effectively able to integrate the two disciplines of Lean and Six Sigma.
