Amplify is looking for a Learning Scientist specializing in science education, ideally with a focus on elementary and/or middle school, to join our team. The Learning Scientist will work as part of research and product teams on a variety of projects that integrate assessment and instruction within digital science core and supplemental curricula. The hired candidate will provide theoretical guidance in the design and creation of new assessment and instructional products as well as plan, conduct, and disseminate results of field research studies that provide support for Amplify's science products and services.

Responsibilities of the Learning Scientist:
  • Provide guidance to inform the development of assessments in the science domain, supporting stance with existing research and field test data
  • Liaise with academics and other experts to gather additional knowledge and support for assessment development
  • Work with product, engineering, and measurement teams to implement, score, and interpret technology-based assessments including assessment performance tasks
  • Design and conduct research projects and disseminate results
    • Lead efforts for demonstrating product impact and efficacy, including strategies and methods for measurement
    • Develop research questions and create research design in collaboration with data analysts to ensure data collection is sufficient to support desired analyses
    • Produce reports, position papers, and manuscripts for internal research purposes, external client review, and publication in peer-reviewed or refereed venues
    • Attend conferences to disseminate work and refresh knowledge of the field

Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD/EdD in education, developmental psychology, or other relevant field, with an explicit focus on science education and measurement
  • 2+ years of applied research experience
  • Experience developing assessments
  • Expertise in Next Generation Science Standards
  • Research record, including publications and presentations to professional audiences
  • Some science teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years working with a Science publisher
