The Learning & Development Director is responsible for the design, development and facilitation of innovative learning solutions, which align with the Company's long-term strategies and career development tracks. This role will serve as an internal consultant, partnering with senior leaders to support their learning needs and drive organizational effectiveness and performance. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead Learning & Development vision.
  • Develop strategic plan for L&D efforts and manage resource allocation.
  • Conduct needs assessment with executive stakeholders to review current training programs and conduct gap analysis, and make recommendations on improving and expanding enterprise-wide and client-based learning.
  • Partner with internal customers and subject matter experts to create training strategies, develop curriculum, and determine delivery methods for knowledge transfer and overall course and program effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business and learning stakeholders to establish recurring discussions and ensure ongoing program relevance.
  • Develop leadership development programs which align with organizational goals, to include content development and delivery and/or identification of vendors and SMEs.
  • Provide oversight and/or develop learning materials for instructor-led, blended learning, WebEx, conversion, and other training programs.
  • Lead Learning & Development team in the development and delivery of learning solutions. Provide training and coaching to develop and hold staff accountable for performance.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and work closely with Team Leads in order to stay current on client strategies and objectives.
  • Maintain effective communication, coordination and working relationships across the company.
  • Measure effectiveness of learning programs, including initial evaluation, training statistics, and return on investment.
  • Oversee the maintenance and response to learning metrics on qualitative and quantitative aspects of training programs and effectiveness.
  • Manage training related vendor relationships and conduct contract negotiations.
  • Develop and manage the learning and development budget.
  • Oversee and monitor LMS and compliance training administration.
  • Establish and lead Ameris Bank L&D Strategic Council.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated success creating learning strategies, designing and delivering learning curriculum, including leadership development programs.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and knowledge in instructional design methodology in classroom facilitation, blended learning and eLearning formats.
  • Relationship management skills including the ability to communicate, influence and coach at the senior leader level.
  • Proven experience with LMS implementation and administration.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, convey information clearly, and represent the department brand across all levels in the business.
  • Ability to lead and develop leaders and remote teams.
  • Exceptional planning, project management, and execution skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with core system and HRIS experience.
  • Ability to produce training materials (leader's guide, participant workbooks, visual learning aides).
  • Position may require up to 25% travel.

Industry and Work Experience:

  • 10+ years' experience in learning and development, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • 5+ years' experience directing the learning and development function.
  • 5+ years' experience in the financial services industry.
  • Experience working with complex client groups and senior management.
  • Prior management experience and proven ability to lead and develop team members and job functions.

Academic:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration.
