Job Description

Human Interest is on a mission to ensure that people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.

Nearly half of all working Americans are not saving enough for their future. Too often it’s because they are employed by a company that doesn’t offer a retirement plan. Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings.

Our Leave of Absence Administrator will administer our in-house leave compliance program. The role will collaborate with both internal clients and external vendors to ensure our team members can fully enjoy their leave of absence benefits. As the subject-matter expert and leader for our employee leaves processes, the Leave of Absence Administrator will independently formulate company policies and practices for the administration of a legally compliant leave program.

What you get to do every day

  • Develop and streamline our policies and practices for leave of absence administration.
  • Assess our use of third-party vendors for leave of absence management.
  • Administer individual leave of absence requests, promptly and effectively communicate with employees, managers, and insurance carriers, generate reports, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Act as a resource to educate HR or management on leave of absence policies, procedures, legal requirements, and aid team members in understanding the benefits offered to them and eligibility requirements.
  • Serve as our internal subject-matter expert on leave of absence administration under the direction of our Legal & HR departments.
  • Monitor laws and regulations that provide leave of absence rights and ensure our team members are provided with competitive benefits.
  • Review and analyze leave utilization, make recommendations on strategies to maintain cost effectiveness and implement changes and enhancements to our benefits.
  • Develop and maintain tracking and reporting framework; produce regular, timely reporting and analysis to key stakeholders.
  • Partner with key stakeholders on sensitive and complicated LOA matters while adhering to strict privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Partner with HR team members and leaders to address and resolve issues related to leave benefits.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors managing short-term disability, long-term disability, and Workers’ Compensation for timely follow up and proactive conflict resolution.

What you bring to the role

  • 5+ years of related HR or leave management experience.
  • Project management skills and the ability to multi-task by managing the priorities of multiple clients.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations related to leaves including FMLA, state-specific entitlements, USERRA, ADA, company-specific leave programs, and associated wage-replacement options.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in case management and HR information systems.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Please feel free to apply to this position even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements listed above.
