This Associate should thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, multi-faceted environment of the Legal Department and work well both independently and in a team environment.

This Associate will manage the preparation, processing and execution of real estate transactions (primarily lease documents) from beginning to end with oversight by Real Estate Attorney and Senior Real Estate Paralegal; track critical tasks and deadlines; draft lease-related correspondence and documents; and maintain internal and external status reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation, processing and execution of transactions from beginning to end with oversight by Real Estate Attorney and Senior Real Estate Paralegal, including wet signatures, DocuSign signatures, and notarization of signatures.
  • Manages and tracks critical contractual documents, tasks, timelines, and deadlines.
  • Draft legal correspondence and lease-related documents such as renewal letters, memorandum of lease, lease amendments, estoppel certificates, and subordination and nondisturbance agreements.
  • Create and manage the group's file database in Smartsheets.
  • Transmit documentation and information within Legal as well as to other departments, outside counsel and third parties, including mail and lease document distribution and delivery.
  • Research and collect information across designated business units to assist in lease document processing and execution.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Real Estate Attorney and Senior Real Estate Paralegal. Time permitting, will assist other attorneys and support staff.
  • Manage and update weekly Excel report maintained by outside counsel and process outside counsel invoices.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field; 3 years of related experience required, including a minimum of 2 years law firm or corporate legal department experience.
  • Notary Public and/or Remote Online Notary Public preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as DocuSign, UPS online account, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Foxit PDF Editor and Smartsheets required.
  • Experience with case management and e-billings software, such as Legal Tracker (f/k/a Serengeti), and real estate management software, such as Trirega, preferred.
  • Substantive knowledge in real estate transactions preferred
  • Ability to attend periodic in-person meetings and team/company events required.
  • Comprehensive computer skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of real estate and legal terminology.
  • Able to independently draft correspondence and interact with all levels of management, including outside counsel.
  • Excellent organizational skills a must.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle and prioritize a variety of assignments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to act with a high degree of integrity and professionalism and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment working under strict deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and solutions-oriented mindset
