Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Legal Analyst through July 27th at 11:59 p.m.

This position is in the Corporate Governance Department that provides advice and counsel regarding all aspects of corporate governance to the Board of Directors, Board committees, senior management, the Executive Committee, subsidiaries, affiliates and business units. This position is based in San Ramon, California and reports to the Assistant Secretary and Managing Counsel.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Coordinating with the Subsidiary Liaisons on the intercompany finance process for all subsidiaries and affiliates, which involves:

  • Reviewing intercompany finance requests from a Governance perspective
  • Planning, tracking, and facilitating the completion of the corporate actions resulting from the Internal Finance Committee ("IFC") endorsements and intercompany settlements
  • Following up with business unit contacts if corporate actions are to be done by the business unit
  • Copying the appropriate Liaison on all email communication with business units after IFC endorsements
  • Serving as the primary Governance contact for the IFC and reporting any issues or unusual developments to the Liaisons
  • Updating the Governance subsidiary database, Diligent Entities, as necessary once corporate actions are completed
  • Updating the Excel tracking list on an ongoing basis for all intercompany finance requests
  • Monitoring the IFC Governance Mailbox for all intercompany financing requests;
  • Uploading all corporate documents related to intercompany finance requests to Company Records
  • Responding to all audits related to intercompany financing transactions
  • Briefing the SubGov team weekly/as required on the status of open matters and confirming closed transactions
  • Compiling statistical or other information on intercompany financing transactions

Reviewing and analyzing personnel changes:

  • Reviewing and analyzing all personnel change announcements and updating the Excel tracking list
  • Facilitating the completion of corporate actions relating to personnel changes
  • Coordinating routine meetings with the SubGov team to review and update the tracking list
  • Monitoring the Subsidiary Governance mailbox for personnel change requests
  • Reviewing governance documents and advising the Liaisons as needed
  • Compiling statistical or other information on personnel changes

Conducting Legal Research:

  • Conducting legal research in locating and analyzing historical governance documents, including assessment of the legal effect of various governance documents and provisions
  • As needed and requested, researching current business activities of Chevron subsidiaries and preparing affidavits for signature
  • As needed and requested, compiling statistical or other information on Governance performance or metrics

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal certificate or degree
  • Experience working as a legal analyst or paralegal for law firm or corporate law department
  • Demonstrated good teamwork experience, the ability to handle multiple assignments, and ability to have positive impact on projects while working under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across broad functional and organizational lines
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities, subject matter expertise, and judgment to identify material issues and elevate as necessary
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite tools, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research applications
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and attorneys
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain high-quality performance with varied deadlines and competing priorities

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,400- $128,200 . The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
