Legal Assistant

Lancer Insurance Company, recognized as one of the nation's premier commercial auto insurance carriers, is seeking a Legal Assistant at their division home office. The position will work closely with multiple attorneys within the Legal Department. This will be fully onsite initially and then available for a hybrid work schedule.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

• Provide initial triage and litigation file setup for all referrals from the Claims Department

• Maintain country-wide trial and ADR calendar for litigations against the Company being managed by the Legal Department

• Assist the attorneys in managing matter diaries and tracking the status of pending litigations and claims

• Perform legal research to assist in the analysis of regulatory and insurance coverage matters

• Access Court databases for pleadings/relevant decisions

• Review subpoenas/discovery demands served on the Company in litigations being managed by the Legal Department and assist in the preparation of documents and responses to be provided to outside counsel

• Prepare case summaries for use in internal claim discussions

• Assist in the management of outside counsel

• Prepare regulatory filings with state insurance departments;

• Track the status of contracts with vendors and ensure compliance with corporate and/or regulatory guidelines

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Knowledge of Westlaw preferred

Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required

• 1+ years of relevant experience

• Strong communication and organizational skills

The expected pay range for the role is $45,000 - $55,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and experiences. The disclosed pay range estimate may also be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
Please note this position will be in office to start, then will eventually move to hybrid schedule in-office 3 days per week.
