Job Description

Job Summary: 

We are looking for a Legal Contracts Specialist II, with 3+ years of contract experience to join our organization. Reporting to the Director, Legal Contracts, this role will support the Legal department to execute contract administrative activities and will have the responsibility to provide system support for the contract management system, and participate in various aspects of the contracting process.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage the company’s contract management system and contracting process from contract creation to contract execution and storage.
  • Provide general system support for the contract management system.
  • Serve as the primary contact for questions regarding use of the contract management system, provide internal stakeholders with system training and assist with the creation of educational materials. 
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely processing of contracts, and identify and help implement efficiencies for the contracting process.
  • Ensure the contract management system records contain complete and accurate data. 
  • Maintain and update the contract repository and monitor the contracts email inbox.
  • Manage contract renewals, expirations, and terminations and follow up with stakeholders on pending contract requests.
  • Assist the members of the Legal team to prepare various types of contracts using the company’s contract templates. 
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize matters needing attention or escalation and initiate action by communicating to the appropriate Legal team member and/or manager to drive resolution.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders throughout the company to ensure compliance with the contracting process.
  • Serve as a liaison between Legal and Finance and/or Procurement regarding vendor contracts.
  • Provide support on all other matters requested by other members of the Legal department, as needed.
  • Perform special projects and respond to ad-hoc requests as needed from time to time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of contract experience within a biopharmaceutical company, or law firm equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of the contracts common to the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ability to understand and analyze legal contractual terms, accurately identify and assess the risks in a business arrangement.
  • Ability to function independently as well as have effective interactions with team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, pragmatic, resourceful and results-oriented.
  • Compliance and process oriented; attention to detail required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills to achieve impactful results with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who is able thrive in a dynamic environment under short timelines and changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, organizational, and communications skills
  • Strong computer skills in database management and document preparation (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize a contract management software and strong knowledge of DocuSign. Knowledge of Agiloft highly desired. 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred 

Pay & Benefits: 

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $105,000 depending on relevant skills, experience, and education. In addition, this position is eligible for target bonus, long-term-incentives, 401k retirement savings plan with company match, and a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
