Summary of Position
• Lead responsible for responding to regulatory complaints received for ConnectiCare businesses, including WellSpark and CMI.• Lead role responsible for application, renewal and regulatory/state filings for in Connecticut businesses as required.• Perform independent research to assist in issue clarification and resolution.• Provide technical, paralegal, and administrative support to the Legal department.
Principal Accountabilities
• Receive and review Attorney General, Office of Patient Protection, Office of Healthcare Advocate, and Insurance
Department complaints and external appeals received for ConnectiCare.• Research and respond to all complaints received by engaging appropriate business partners internally and externally as
necessary with vendor partners.• Monitor Insurance Department Box; set up all complaint files, including External Appeals; log in/out complaints.• Prepare and submit documentation in external appeals.• Complete and file application(s) for appropriate licenses renewals to operate specific businesses (Annual/biennial
Utilization Review, Accident & Health, Producer, TPA Registration).• Complete annual regulatory filings and surveys in support of those licenses including CT and MA Holding Company Act
Forms B and C, CT Market Conduct UR Survey; MA Office of Patient Protection Annual Healthplan Report.• Prepare and file all required documents with the Secretary of State for each state in which the ConnectiCare
companies are registered.• Assist with the CT Consumer Report Card Survey.• Perform business/corporate legal support responsibilities, including preparing necessary documents to amend and/or
restate articles of incorporation and/or bylaws, regulatory and governmental filings, insurance licensure renewals,
annual report filings, corporate book filings and governance documentation.• Maintain and file applications for registered federal and state trademarks for ConnectiCare and affiliates, including
periodic research on potential infringements.• Research and respond to liens, levies and records requests.• Compile and index documents for ConnectiCare and affiliates litigation matters.• Manage activities to ensure physical files are archived per compliance schedule and sent offsite.• Build digital archives and catalogue for audit purposes.• Receive and respond to emails, calls and inquiries to legal questions.• Perform other related responsibilities/tasks as directed or required
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
• Bachelor's Degree required.• Paralegal Certificate preferred.
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• 3 - 5+ years of relevant, professional work experience. (R)• Additional experience/specialized training may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. (R)• Ability to perform legal research; ability to interpret legal information. (R)• Understanding of state insurance and corporate statutes and regulations. (R)• Understanding of federal HMO regulations. (R).• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.). (R)• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines/priorities. (R)• Ability to perform multiple tasks at any given time. (R)• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audiences. (R)
