Job Description

Ares' Private Equity Group is seeking a highly organized, quick-thinking and proactive Legal Coordinator to join the Legal team in Los Angeles. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects with shifting priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The Legal Coordinator will provide day-to-day support to the Private Equity Legal team and contribute to firmwide initiatives in conjunction with the broader Paralegal team.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to: Head Paralegal, Private Equity

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Legal Coordinator will be charged with facilitating the efficient functioning of the Private Equity Legal team to enable the timely delivery of high-quality legal services to investment professionals and other functional groups (finance/accounting, investor relations, compliance, etc.) at the firm, including teams based in Los Angeles, New York and Europe.

Critical tasks include:

  • Check documents against precedents and elevate them for review accordingly.
  • Coordinate workflow with external counsel for high volume of non-disclosure agreements.
  • Coordinate the execution and/or notarization of documents.
  • Collaborate with Compliance team to clear conflicts on investment opportunities.
  • Ensure our legal records are highly organized and complete so documents are easily accessible to users when needed.
  • Prepare resolutions and incumbency certificates on a periodic and as-needed basis.
  • Prepare responses (including entity structure charts) to inbound Know Your Customer, Anti-Money Laundering and other legal/regulatory information requests.
  • Assist with corporate, regulatory and other filings.
  • Create visually appealing/highly readable materials for legal training sessions.
  • Assist with improving standard forms/precedents and processes.
  • Record and organize data to assist in analyzing key performance indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Some experience working within a regulated industry, at a law firm or in an in-house legal department is preferred. A background in asset management (private equity, specifically) is helpful.

Compensation

The anticipated rate for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.

$36 - $44 per hour
