Altana is seeking a versatile Legal Counsel to join the growing legal function at Altana and support the goals of the business as we continue to scale. The legal function is deeply embedded into the business and you will be required to collaborate, advise, and support a full spectrum of stakeholders. The role will be extremely varied and will require you to deliver first-rate legal advice in a fast-paced dynamic environment, identifying and mitigating risk with a pragmatic business-first approach. This role will be best suited to a generalist who is not daunted by ambiguity and novel challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with business development leads to draft and negotiate software licensing agreements
- Review, draft and negotiate, a wide variety of inbound commercial agreements including SaaS agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts, consultant agreement, employment contracts, and partnership agreementsÂ
- Drive the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes
- Ensure that our compliance policies and processes are growing in step with our expanding business footprint
- Help to define and build infrastructure to deliver legal support in a scalable mannerÂ
- Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders across the full spectrum of legal topics and be the subject matter expert on key legal topics
Requirements
- UK or US qualified lawyer with 1-3 PQE
- Knowledgeable in software and data licensing, data protection, commercial contracting and intellectual property
- Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with a cross-functional team, using effective communication, strong writing and customer service skills
- In house experience, at a growth stage SaaS or technology startup a bonus but not a requirement
- Genuine curiosity about the intersection of global trade, data, technology, geopolitics, and the law
