Job Description

What You'll Do!

  • Partnering with Discovery & Medical and Genomic Medicine leadership and their teams in the Americas to help identify opportunities to drive the business forward, e.g. negotiating and closing important commercial, direct sourcing and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Providing Legal & Compliance training to Discovery & Medical and Genomic Medicine teams in the Americas to help them identify and navigate risks that may arise during the course of doing business.
  • Applying legal and business judgment to proposed deals, relationships and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating strategic business agreements and transactions.
  • Advising the business on compliance, privacy, antitrust, and advertising / promotional matters.
  • Supporting the management of disputes and litigation.

Who You Are!

  • JD with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school. Active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction. Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Significant business law experience at a large law firm or corporate in-house legal department (or minimum 10 years of experience as a contracts manager), including but not limited to drafting, negotiating and closing commercial and supplier agreements in a regulated environment (e.g. sale and distribution agreements, supply and professional services procurement agreements etc.), preferably with experience gained in the healthcare or life sciences industry (including the application of privacy laws such as HIPAA and/or GDPR).
  • Strong project prioritization skills, ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal and compliance issues quickly and effectively and ability to make well-grounded risk calls.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to influence adoption of business-oriented solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute to driving change across cross-functional teams with a focus on driving operational excellence.
  • Proven team player.
