Job Description
Legal Intern
Division: Brookfield Properties Development LLC
Department: BPD - Commercial Development
Location: New York
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Legal Intern is responsible for supporting the Company's legal activities of multifamily residential, retail, office, suburban rental, and other mixed-use real estate assets, servicing internal customers (i.e. Development Team, Design Team, Construction Team, etc.)
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Contracts: 50%
- Support attorneys in drafting legal documentation, including development management agreements and affiliate reimbursement agreements.
- Draft easement, license and occupancy agreement documentation under attorney supervision.
- Create and maintain documentation trackers
Diligence and Deal Process: 50%
- Coordinate property diligence and update diligence trackers
- Attend project meetings and compile and distribute meeting summaries
- Liaise with title and outside counsel
QUALIFICATIONS
Compensation: Hourly Pay: $20.00
- Demonstrated interest in law and the legal profession
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - specific focus on advanced knowledge and proficiency with Word.
- Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to plan and organize.
- Interest in real estate development/investments/management.
- Proactive and willing to take initiative with the ability to make decisions independently combined with an ability to work collaboratively.
- High sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with a positive approach and strong attention to detail.
- Critical thinker; exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be collaborative and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
