Legal Intern - Summer 2023

What we're looking for
Momentive Inc. (maker of SurveyMonkey) is looking for an intern to work with our in-house legal team on a variety of legal and compliance projects during the summer of 2023. Our summer interns gain valuable exposure to the legal issues facing a high-growth data and insights platform business while learning what it's like to be an in-house counsel. Interns help Momentive's legal team be pragmatic and strategic business partners, stay on top of developing legal issues, improve its operational processes, advise other teams on legal risk management practices so that Momentive can provide its customers with a secure and compliant platform.
You will experience working with a variety of subject matter groups within the legal team and participate in Momentive's intern program events.
You will
- Collaborate with legal team members to update internal company policies, play books and external customer-facing policies
- Research legal and regulatory requirements and assist with projects
- Participate in team and project meetings to gain an understanding of issues affecting our business
- Learn how we think about legal issues related to technology and see how we apply them in a practical context
- Identify and improve processes to support the legal team's operations
- Collaborate with legal and cross-functional team members on special projects related to: Corporate, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Privacy, Regulatory/Policy, and Employment
- Report to Senior Counsel remotely
You have
- Completed at least one year at a nationally-accredited law school (current 1L or 2L)
- Solid academic record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- General understanding of contracts, privacy, and other technology-related areas of law
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Willingness to expand and adapt to a variety of job responsibilities, suggest improvements and collaborate with others to generate ideas for improved processes
- Initiative, interest in learning and willing to perform some routine tasks
- Minimum 1 year of professional, internship or volunteer experience
- Passion for Momentive's mission, core values and learning more about its business
