This position will be a vital member of a fantastic team of legal operations professionals in FanDuel’s Legal Strategy and Operations team. The role will report to the Legal Strategy and Operations Director and will be initially tasked to establish our Legal Service Supplier program. This role will primarily lead our e-billing function and manage outside counsel engagement, including RFPs, rate negotiations, and outside counsel guideline enforcement. As the Legal Strategy and Ops team grows, the Legal Operations Manager will be a critical player in future operational enhancements. Â
The ideal candidate for this role has worked in Legal Operations within a highly regulated industry and has experience with e-billing and working with law firms. Experience working for an internet, technology, and/or media company, or with such companies, is a plus. That said, superior analytical, strategic, communication, and interpersonal skills are of paramount importance, as are a strong work ethic, attention to detail, a commitment to being a team player, and an aptitude to learn quickly the nuances of the internet, technology, and media businesses.
THE GAME PLAN:

Specific responsibilities may include:
- Work with the procurement, finance, payment, and Legal, Risk and Compliance teams throughout the organization to manage the department’s Legal Service Supplier Program.
- Manage all billing-related activities, including vendor communication and performance evaluation, rate negotiations and annual review meetings, metrics and reporting, and market benchmark analysis.
- Act as a eBilling system admin and subject matter expert and answer questions and/or provide solutions to software challenges; enable accurate matter set up with an eye on automation.
- Establish effective lines of communication with panel firms and enforce outside counsel guidelines.
- Prepare and design various reports and analyses, evaluate key performance indicators, and make recommendations based on analysis
- Document and update Outside Counsel Guidelines and company billing protocols as needed
THE STATS:
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- 5-7+ years working in a highly regulated industry.
- 3-5+ years working in a corporate legal department and/or legal operations
- Experience working with matter management systems (e.g. Brightflag, CounselLink, TeamConnect)
- Demonstrated aptitude for applying critical thinking to execution, including process improvement identification and design, change management, and process implementation
- Effective writing and presentation skills, ability to communicate clearly and efficiently
- Past supervisory experience, including training staff and aiding in development
- Ability to show initiative and to perform in a multi-task environment
- A passion for working hard in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Possess a strong bias for action and can work independently
- Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative, and adaptive
- An exceptional team builder and team player, with a desire to be a leader within FanDuel

The applicable salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation.
