Individual contributor role working with claim organization and the legal services team to manage operational aspects of CNA's utilization of outside law firms. Will be engaged in the overall relationship management including selection of law firms (not at the case level), rate management, onboarding, TeamConnect utilization, data analytics, and performance and billing audits. Will support internal claim legal operations to optimize processes, practices and overall utilization. Leads project teams or work groups in efforts related to counsel selection strategy, utilization and impact. Accountable for assignments or projects that are high in priority, visibility and/or complexity.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with Claim partners to develop operational methods for effective selection and utilization of counsel. Participate in business reviews and audits concerning counsel utilization, performance, and billing.
Manage rates, onboarding and operational practices adoption for outside firms. May participate in business reviews/legal audits.
Senior technical analyst and process team lead for projects in Claim Legal/Law area. Develops strategy and implements approach for creation of deliverables and all supporting documentation for the concept and definition phases of the project. Involves others as needed.
Leads the development and compliance of policies and procedures for the business to ensure consistent implementation and improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness and/or internal and external customer service. Understands the business needs and consults and partners with business leaders in planning projects and programs.
Provides complex analysis and decision support to business to deliver on key business priorities. Interacts and collaborates with multiple disciplines to gather information, perform analysis, and makes recommendations to management to drive continuous improvement.
Assists in defining process performance measures, determines data availability, advises operational reporting group of required measures, and develops methods and tools to track process performance.
Responsible for building and maintaining centralized processing documentation related to counsel management. Maintains inventory of business process methodologies and approach. Documents business processes by applying and promoting process modeling best practices.
Evaluates business needs and approaches for creation of a reference site.
Acts as business project manager for large process improvement projects including assisting IT with setting requirements, participating in user acceptance testing and documenting processes.
Works with business partners across organization to improve how operational metrics are gathered, stored and analyzed. Prepares operations, finance and statistical reports using relevant internal and external data.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Knowledge of the insurance industry as well as understanding of the company's products, services, goals and objectives.
2. Detailed knowledge of Law office operations.
3. Detailed understanding of TeamConnect operation and capabilities.
4. Excellent analytical, organizational and planning skills. Advanced problem solving skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with little or no direction to drive project and program initiatives.
5. Proficiency to facilitate meetings of high complexity.
6. Solid knowledge of project management and change management principles and methods.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to convey business
requirements and technical needs in clear, concise, and effective manner.
8. Ability to lead teams on short-term basis and to coach and mentor staff at all levels.
9. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software systems.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent. 2. Typically a minimum of seven years of related work experience. 3. Project leadership experience desired.
