Legal Specialist - Community Guardian Program
Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for all aspects of court mandated reporting, maintaining court calendar and performing various paralegal responsibilities and duties for the Community Guardian Program department.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Oversees process of new client procedures ensuring that all steps are handled promptly.
- Oversees updating and maintenance of bond information, order and cancels bonds.
- Coordinates and troubleshoots client discharge process.
- Prepares or assigns preparation of initial, annual and final accounts. Coordinates and monitors work flow for annual accounts. Coordinates and monitors submission of testimonies for court attorneys.
- Maintains court calendar for the department.
- Monitors assignment of cases to attorneys. Notify responsible parties prior to court dates.
- Obtains commissions and court certification of documents as needed.
- Orders or obtains client death certificates. Prepares Notice of Death for Public Administrators.
- Prepares legal briefs for new incoming cases for staff attorneys as needed.
- Conducts courthouse filings, mail service and affidavit process servings.
- Adhere to organization's standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including - but not limited to - Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
- Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
- Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

Salary Range: 39,000 - 42,000 per year commensurate with experience.
Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 6 months to 1 year relevant experience
- Computer literate
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to multi-task and work independently with a great attention to detail
Working Conditions/Physical Demand:
- Business Office Environment with phone and computer use.
- Ability to attend meetings and training outside of office environment.
- Ability to travel to in the field.
