Legal Trainee

We are now looking for a Legal Trainee to join our legal team in Helsinki, Finland, for a full-time and fixed term position (preferably from the beginning of March until mid-September 2025). 

What you will do 

You will be responsible for and assist legal team members in versatile assignments, including: 

• Supporting UPM’s group functions and business areas in various contract law related engagements, especially with respect to non-disclosure agreements and material transfer agreements, as well as contracting process development 

• Assisting in legal tech related tasks and projects 

• Assisting in other tasks in the legal function, such as information and data collection, legal translation work, preparation of background materials and legal research 

The Legal Trainee reports to the Group Counsel, Contracting, and is a member of UPM Group Contracting Team. 

Who you are 
 
We are looking for a person with positive attitude, service-oriented mindset and genuine interest to learn and grow as legal professional. In this position you will need to be able take ownership of your own work and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks concurrently while remaining focused on the key priorities. In addition, the person we are looking for has: 

• Studies in law, with approximately 50–80% of the studies completed 

• Excellent English and Finnish skills, written and oral 

Earlier work experience is not a must, but the following are seen as assets: 

• Earlier work experience in law firm or in-house law department 

• Earlier knowledge/studies in contract law, IPR, data protection, IT and/or legal tech is highly appreciated
