Summary

This position is located in the Department of Program Services, Court Services Office, Programs Division, National Programs Branch and reports to the Chief of the National Programs Branch. This position serves as the subject matter expert in library and legal research programs and carries out functions in support of the National Library Program as part of the mission of the Court Services Office.

  5. All new AO employees are required to identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.
  6. You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
  7. If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience identifying, addressing, and coordinating technical issues relating to library technology and software applications; serving as liaison and primary point of contact to executives and their staffs on all aspects of Library Programs, including collections, research, training, national contracts, and technical support with judiciary library systems; and preparing statements of work, reviewing terms and conditions, and performing contracting officer representative duties.

Basic Qualifications:
Applicants must meet ONE of the qualification requirements as described below:
  1. Completion of one full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree. (Transcripts Required)
  2. A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
