Linux and PL/SQL Developer

Location: Remote

Length of Contract: 6 months

Seeking qualified and passionate Linux/Unix engineers to join a fast-paced, high performing delivery team. The team works closely with the product and business teams to ensure the needs of a newly acquired utility are met.

Eagerness to learn and understand technologies out of your comfort zone is required. Abrupt challenges provide opportunities for you to quickly learn and apply new skills in unfamiliar areas of technology. An optimal customer experience starts with the tools and best practices developed and maintained by the team.

Requirements

Experience and Competencies:

• 5+ years of Linux/Unix experience, including hands-on coding and scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Powershell)
• Able to make progress in a fast-paced environment with little oversight
• Strong verbal/written communication & facilitation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to understand complex architectures and be comfortable working with multiple teams
• Ability to conduct performance analysis, capacity management and troubleshoot large scale distributed systems
• Enthusiasm toward technology, passionate continual learner
• Constantly looking for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo

Required skills:

• Oracle database experience, solid understanding of SQL tuning, indexing & query costs
• Maintaining PL/SQL packages as well as SQL Loader, SQL Plus, and SQL Developer.
• Apache configuration and troubleshooting
• Web services, 3rd party APIs, tools like Postman, SoapUI & Fiddler
• Understanding of SOLID design principles & secure coding practices
• Experience as a Linux/Unix engineer on a cross-functional agile team as well as experience with COBOL highly desirable (preferred, not required)
