Linux System Admin Intern – Summer 2023

As an intern with the Linux team, you will work with individuals across the team and technology organization to help advance IEX's Linux automation and monitoring initiatives. This is a cross-functional opportunity where you will be able to leverage your technical and problem-solving skills to help IEX set new standards and raise the bar for performance, fairness, and transparency.

As an intern, you will help us implement and increase our automated deployment and monitoring processes used to support the backend infrastructure of the IEX group.

No prior finance experience is necessary - just an appetite to dive deep into automation, monitoring and programming and learn as you go.

What You’ll Do:

• Work within existing Linux team to contribute to the develop of our automation tools, provisioning, and monitoring processes. Primarily focused on implementation of various tools to be used in querying and reporting on the status of the environment
• Evaluate open-source UX frameworks for use in our Dashboards and deployment automation tools
• Work closely with the Linux team to identify deficiencies in current tool set and suggest / developed new processes

Your Background:

• Undergraduate working towards a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Administration, Information Technology, or similar field.
• Experience with programming / scripting languages python, bash (SQL, Rust, Golang, Java are all a plus) and associated development tools (GIT, IDEs, Compilers, Jira, Wiki, etc.)
• Experience with CentOS 7 and or Ubuntu
• Some experience working with open-source UX frameworks
• Some experience working with 3rd party APIs

Nice to Have

• Experience with Linux OS installation
• Familiar with virtualization environments (VMware and Hyper-V).
• Familiar with Linux storage product (NFS, CIFS, LVM, …)
• Experience with Ansible or other automation tools.
