Linux System Administrator

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Linux Administrator. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for helping to architect, as well as implement, administer and manage the various Linux technologies deployed across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Installation and configuration of workstations and servers in accordance with a defined baseline
• At least three years ongoing professional experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft in the following areas is required for the position.
• Security, system hardening, system integrity, system backup, and continuous monitoring/auditing
• Patch / package management, third-party software installation and maintenance
• Virtualization technologies
• Server and switch installation and configuration
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing user support
• Networking configuration in a mixed Linux and Windows environment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A 4-year degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another technical field is preferred
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner
• Enthusiastic, dynamic self-starter able to own issues to conclusion
• Detail oriented
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates who have at least one-year ongoing professional experience in any of the following areas will be preferred

• Dell switches, servers and SAN
• VMWare vSphere and vCenter
• DISA SCAP Compliance Checker and configuration in accordance with DISA STIGs
• Security+
• RHCSA / RHCE and/or Microsoft certification
• Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL7)
• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Network-attached storage (NAS) and/or Storage Area Network (SAN) configuration and maintenance
• Automation using shell / perl / python / powershell
• Git / Gitlab / Continuous Integration
• Configuration management using Ansible or similar
• Docker, Kubernetes
• Database maintenance and web development
• Ability to document, track and execute requirements, policies, procedures, and system modifications
• Secret Clearance

The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $135,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
