Linux Systems Administrator

Job Summary
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Linux System Administrator with strong Linux expertise, and the ability to grow into Kubernetes, and Docker expertise. You will be part of the Spacelift Telemetry Acquisition and Reporting System (STARS) team providing mission assurance support for National Security Space (NSS) missions. You will also be part of the Computational Services team that oversees server and storage platforms for the Aerospace Corporation which provides the backbone of the STARS data analytics platform. The team oversees thousands of computing systems both on-premises as well as in the cloud. We work with rocket scientists and engineers to develop cutting edge solutions to complex space enterprise problems for critical national space assets. In your role, you will be supporting engineers and scientists who utilize our STARS data analysis platform. You will be working and collaborating with other cross-functional team members who all have a strong sense of shared responsibility and ownership.
Work Model
This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA (1 day/week on site)
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide Linux expertise and troubleshooting
- Be part of a Linux engineering team and develop and customize large scale automation
- Provision, maintain, run security updates, monitor, and provide operational support for Linux workstations, servers, and Kubernetes clusters; and the technical apps on them
- Evaluate and test new products and technologies
- Write or improve documentation for processes and procedures
- Manage cross-team coordination
- Provide support of real time analysis of real time telemetry data from our space launch partners including SpaceX and United Launch Alliance (ULA).
- Ability to support flexible work hours for space launch verification
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Level II:
- 3 or more years of relevant experience with Associate's Degree in a related discipline, or 5 or more years of relevant experience with High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in CentOS/RHEL Linux systems administration, including configuration, for an enterprise environment.
- Experience automating repetitive tasks with scripting or DevOps tools
- Strong written & oral communication, team player, organized, good time management, flexible to changing needs
- Willing to travel domestically approx. 2%
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the U.S government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 5 years' experience supporting an enterprise environment
- Experience in Linux systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening for an enterprise environment.
- Experience with automated provisioning (for example: TerraForm, or Kickstart)
- Experience with Puppet & infrastructure administration
- Programming skills (for example: Puppet, Bash, Ansible, Chef, Golang, Ruby, Python, or Perl)
- Experience with VMWare or AWS administration
- Experience building Docker containers
- Experience with Kubernetes clusters and deploying apps in Kubernetes
- Certification: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Docker Certified Associate (DCA)
- Experience with Agile and Scrum
We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$40.86 - $54.08 - $67.31
