We are currently looking for an experienced, creative individual to join a team of energetic professionals who are responsible for the health, availability and continued improvement of the global server and network infrastructure used in the manufacturing of our products. In this role you will administer Linux systems, networking devices, storage arrays and associated appliances. In parallel, you will help drive the development of new automation and tools as we improve our infrastructure and adapt to future demands in efficiency and scalability.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 
  • You will primarily be responsible for the administration of all systems, services and devices in the Manufacturing Operations Infra Team environment.
  • Leverage our monitoring systems as well as develop new and better methods for understanding the state of our mission critical servers and services.
  • Use Puppet to automate and align server configuration, manage software, enforce security, etc.
  • Create tools for various tasks in the form of scripts or Ansible playbooks.
  • Administer and support technologies from VMware, Cisco, Arista and others.
  • Identify and improve issues within the environment, strive to constantly make our infrastructure better, you will be empowered to drive your own projects to advance not only a system or process but the department as a whole.
  • Create and maintain highly detailed documentation for processes, tools and projects.
  • Collaborate with teams within Pure storage and also vendors and external resources, be our lead contact with other technical departments within Pure storage.
  • Become a subject matter expert and mentor to other team members.
  • Participate in On-Call rotation.
WHAT YOUR BRING TO THE TEAM: 
  • Four years of solid experience as a Systems Administrator in a Linux Environment, this should include experience working in a production environment and supporting a software stack; plus experience with various monitoring systems, Linux server configuration, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, package management and security best practices. (BSCS, BSMIS, or equivalent degree preferred.)
  • Experience with building and deploying server infrastructure on at least one virtualization or cloud platform (VMware preferred)
  • Familiarity with network and storage device configuration (Cisco, Arista preferred) as well as a good understanding of Networking Principals / OSI Model.
  • Experience with Infrastructure automation tools such as Puppet and Ansible.
  • Ability to automate tasks by writing scripts in at least one language (Bash, Python, Perl, etc…)
  • Familiarity with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL database server administration is preferred.
  • A detail oriented mindset, the ability to plan large operations, potentially across organizations and flexibility to adjust that plan as needed.
  • Fluency in English. Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese is a bonus.
  • Hands on experience with network cabling standards and data center best practices preferred.
  • Ability to travel internationally and nationally (though travel is a minor component of the job)
  • For the right candidate, we are willing to consider a remote work from home option (Western US, Houston, TX and surrounding areas preferred)

Pure Storage applies a geographic based pay structure depending on an employee’s location.

For applicants located in Colorado (as required by SB19-085):

  • The annual base salary range is: $102,000 - $153,000. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

  • The annual base salary range is: $76,000 - $115,000. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
