Linux/Windows Systems Administrator

3Red Partners, a proprietary trading firm headquartered in Chicago, is seeking a Linux/Windows Systems Administrator to join the team. Our team has extensive, global experience in a wide variety of asset classes, risk management, and leading trading technologies. We focus our efforts on hiring extremely talented and motivated individuals to collaborate with each other and be on the forefront of leveraging technology and math to implement sophisticated trading strategies.

The Linux/Windows Systems Administrator will work in our Chicago office alongside other technologists and will be responsible for the day to day user support and the ongoing maintenance of 3Red’s computer systems and network. At 3Red, you will be tasked with building flexible and innovative solutions while ensuring reliability in a dynamic global trading environment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including Linux and Windows servers, security tools, applications, desktops, and laptops
• Handle physical setup and install of hardware and provide daily user and desktop support
• Diagnose and repair hardware, operating system, and software issues; perform Windows and Active Directory administration tasks, including user/group administration, group policies, network install and patch management, security permissions on files and users
• Maintain and configure Linux and Windows virtual servers managed on a Nutanix cluster
• Create and maintain documentation of systems processes, automate tasks, and recommend new hardware and software solutions

Qualifications:

• A Bachelors or Master’s degree with more than 3 years of Linux and Windows administration experience or equivalent training
• Experience scripting in Powershell, Bash, Python, or Perl
• Strong attention to detail and communication/customer service skills with the ability to identify problems and work proactively to resolve issues
• Familiarity with virtualization is a plus along with an understanding of networking concepts, configuration management, and source control
