Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model . Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.
Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we're looking for a Litigation & Employment Counsel to join our growing Legal team. Together with other members of the Legal team, the person in this role will help us navigate important litigation and employment matters and counsel cross-functional teams to reduce litigation risk, advise on cutting-edge employment issues, help build a world-class legal infrastructure, and collaborate closely with our customers and partners.
This role will be critical to building out Grammarly's Legal team. The Litigation & Employment Counsel will have opportunities to work with our People, Sales, Communications, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product teams, among others.
Your impact
As Litigation & Employment Counsel, you will own crucial projects that will contribute to Grammarly's strategic goals. As a foundational member of the Grammarly Legal team, you will also help develop the team's culture through exemplary care for others and a strong commitment to finding creative solutions to complex questions.
  • Within your first 30 days, you will onboard to the Grammarly Legal team and focus on understanding our team and our product. You will solve interesting legal and business questions and start advising internal clients on vital litigation and employment topics.
  • By month three, you will manage cross-functional legal projects, have developed good relationships with key leaders and stakeholders, and serve as the driving force for our litigation and employment legal functions.
  • By month six, you will create scalable legal processes to enable the Legal team to achieve its ambitious goals.
  • By year one, you will manage key parts of the legal function.

We're looking for someone who
  • Embodies our EAGER values-is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2-4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Possesses 5+ years of litigation experience at a law firm or in an in-house role.
  • Has experience crafting and executing winning strategies in multiple types of litigation and pre-litigation, including employment, commercial disputes, intellectual property, regulatory, and consumer class actions.
  • Has a demonstrated passion for identifying and reducing litigation risk.
  • Approaches legal counseling with a practical mindset, navigating legal questions with a focus on business goals.
  • Can provide both strategic and tactical legal advice on employment processes and best practices-and has, as a bonus, prior employment legal experience.
  • Displays extraordinary organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Maintains a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Communicates excellently.
  • Loves to solve challenging problems with creative solutions.
  • Has great enthusiasm and passion for law, technology, and business.

  • For Colorado-based employment : The salary range for this position is $131,000 - $234,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
