Live Streaming Operations Manager

Outside Inc. is seeking a Live Operations Manager to facilitate live streaming operations for the brand. The ideal candidate will manage live streaming events, the encoders for operations and testing, and create procedures and best practices for event operations. The ability to develop, own, and report on key performance metrics is critical with the ability to discern priority and focus resources where necessary. 

You will be self-motivated with a deep understanding of streaming operations and broadcast engineering. Weekend and overnight hours are required to support international sports schedules. 

This role will report directly to our Executive Director of Operations. 

Within 1 month you will:

• Run point for the operations team on Live events and guide colleagues and staff to meet performance expectations
•  Set up, test, and maintain end to end workflow for streaming events or to QA for testing
• Event monitoring and support across all digital platforms as well as for live events such as Ironman, US Ski & Snowboard, Mountain and Gravel Bike races and more (subject to change) 
• Monitoring and operations of live streaming events cross platform

Within 6 months, you will: 

• Fix, troubleshoot, and debug any live TV streaming issues on Outside Inc and provide root cause analyses for all major issues
• Ability to create and maintain maps & drawings of ops infrastructures for communication with all relevant parties
• Additional other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

What You bring to Outside: (Preferred Qualifications)

• 5+ Years experience with live streaming video or broadcast 
• Experience working in a media entertainment environment with multiple partners and distributed teams 
•  Knowledge of remote production facilities and equipment vendors
• Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues with live streaming
• Strong understanding of digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and associated technologies such as Multicast and Unicast video distribution, MPEG Video (2,4, & HEVC), MPEG-2 TS, HDR, SCTE-35 & ESNI signaling, closed-captions, satellite video distribution, and ad-splicing.
• Experience with video transport protocols such as SDI, SMPTE-2110, RTP, RTMP, SRT, Zixi, RIST, HLS, MPEG-DASH
• Monitor industry news for emerging technologies and developing trends
  ● Understanding of nuances of remote production and the on-site technical operation
  ● Must be self-motivated & results-oriented 
• Must be able to work some nights & weekends.

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $85,000 to $110,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
