Job Summary

A QA/QC Designer has overall responsibility to plan, organize, develop, and execute quality plans to the highest degree possible for capital projects. Implements and maintains both quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) systems related to design work or documentation that is completed by third party contractors or vendors, transmittals for major capital project engineering design packages, and internal in-house design or engineering. Collaborates with CITGO capital project teams, CITGO design/drafting teams, CITGO capital construction teams, external engineering contractors, external vendors or fabricators, and SAP Administration personnel to ensure that QA/QC roles and responsibilities are performed as required.

Additional Job Duties:

• Ensure quality assurance for documentation and manages the process of controlling capital project documentation between 3rd parties/vendors/contractors and the major projects engineering teams• Manage major capital project transmittals for engineering documents, drawings, vendor drawings, documents, specifications, and other related project files• Responsible for performing quality control (QC) checks of the engineering design drawings completed by both external engineering contractors and internal in-house design personnel for capital projects• Perform QC checks to identify errors and/or omissions that can be addressed proactively before field construction• Manage the process of checking out and indexing CITGO electronic engineering drawings, documents, and records for routine or capital projects • Support capital project teams in the management of SAP equipment templates. Supports the development of the technical equipment templates and coordinates the updates between the project teams and the LCMC SAP Administrator• Perform engineering design functions for internal in-house engineering projects that are managed by the LCMC Design and Drafting Group • Manage the issuance of LCMC functional location numbers that are required for new equipment installed at the refinery as part of routine or capital projects• Manage the drafting, design, and documentation control processes that are used by external engineering contractors. Performs training as required with external engineering contractors for LCMC drafting and design requirements and work processes• Serve as the administrator for the LCMC computer-aided design (CAD) project at the refinery, including the ongoing management of the system and yearly updates

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Drafting/Design Technology with 7 years of designer experience in an industrial facility, or
• 9 years of Drafting/Design experience in an industrial facility in lieu of degree
• Knowledge of AutoCAD software packages, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, & Electronic Document Management Systems (CITGO EDMS preferred)
• Basic knowledge of civil designs, piping isometrics, instrument and electrical plans, one-line drawings, schematics, I&E installation details, P&IDs, loops sheets, demolition, wiring diagrams (preferred)
• Effective communication skills
• Strong attention to details
• Ability to complete tasks on schedule with minimal guidance or oversight
• Valid driver's license required
• Valid TWIC card required
