Aktiv Pharma Group (‘Aktiv’) is a fast-growing, vertically integrated specialty pharmaceutical company with combination products CDMO capabilities, developing, manufacturing, and commercializing sterile-injectable products in a portfolio of proprietary, value-added, prefilled delivery systems. Aktiv leading products are proprietary emergency medicine in autoinjectors.

We are currently hiring a Logistics Manager.

The Position: The Logistics Manager’s primary effort will be to create and implement a logistics operation from a very basic beginning. Included responsibilities are to supervise all aspects of Shipping, Receiving, and Material Handling. This person will oversee the personnel, department equipment, and operation of multiple warehouses to ensure uncompromising quality, cleanliness, and efficiency in the company’s logistics operations. This position will be accountable for meeting customer demand while maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvements, and managing costs.

  • The compensation range for the Logistics Manager is $85,000 - $100,000 annually.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with all departments to support the aggressive schedule of a growing company. 
  • Communicates effectively to all departments to ensure support of operational execution, shipments of both intermediate products and final products, and logistics impacts to schedule. 
  • Oversees the creation, maintenance, and organization of multiple warehouse sites.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates.
  • Inspires the team through thorough and consistent communication, identifying and celebrating wins, and addressing issues timely and fairly. 
  • Collaborates with other managers and supervisors to coordinate activities in and among departments.
  • Optimization of all logistics steps to produce the right amount of product and deliver to the end user at the right time.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Operations to improve inventory turns, stocking strategies and reduce lead times.
  • Collects, evaluates, analyzes, and assesses logistics data. Educates team and company on how to use this data to evaluate team performance. 
  • Regularly inspects and evaluates warehouse operations for cleanliness and efficiency. Provides clear and urgent feedback. 
  • Identifies and corrects problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, or skills. 
  • Contributes and leads investigations into deviations to procedures and specifications to get to root cause. Effectively implements corrective actions that are effective and sustained. 
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices including those related to safety and health. 
  • Develops and implements procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Collaborates with other departmental managers to develop and execute budget. 
  • In cooperation with Manufacturing Operations and Purchasing, ensures adequate levels of material and/or product inventories are maintained.
  • Oversee proper disposition of received materials through its life cycle – QC Hold, Quarantine, Released to Stock, etc.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of Kanban cards for specific materials.
  • Oversee the coordination with Quality Control for inspection of incoming materials.
  • Assist with the creation, documentation and implementation of inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Maintain an active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Works closely with Aktiv Pharma Group Program Managers, Purchasing Department and Engineers to ensure timelines are being kept.
  • Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Supervisory Duties 

  • Hires and trains front-line employees. 
  • Organizes, directs, and oversees the schedules and work of front-line employees. 
  • Identifies and mentors leaders within the team and helps develop career growth. 
  • Provides focused and regular feedback opportunities leading to constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Job Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Associate’s degree in related field, or equivalent industry work experience required;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. 
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in shipping, receiving warehouse highly preferred. 
  • Sufficient exposure to Logistics Operations is preferred since this role will be implementing from new.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation. Currently have multiple locations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
