This role sits at the intersection of leadership, compliance, and financial recovery operations within a member-focused financial services environment.
You will oversee a team responsible for post-charge-off recovery, bankruptcy, and collections activities, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and regulatory compliance.
The position requires strong decision-making in a highly regulated space involving debtor/creditor law and collections practices.
You will play a key role in improving recovery outcomes while maintaining ethical standards and protecting member relationships.
The environment is collaborative and flexible, with a mix of remote work options and digital-first coordination across teams.
It is well suited for a hands-on leader who can balance operational oversight, coaching, and process improvement in a fast-paced setting.

Accountabilities:

  • Supervise, coach, and support a team handling collections, bankruptcy, and post-charge-off recovery activities, ensuring performance and service quality targets are met.
  • Ensure all recovery and collections processes comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including debtor/creditor laws and fair debt collection practices.
  • Review, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency and risk control.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align recovery strategies with broader organizational goals and policy requirements.
  • Exercise sound judgment in resolving escalated cases and guiding decisions related to delinquent accounts and recovery actions.
  • Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional relevant education is a plus.
    • Minimum 3 years of bankruptcy experience and 2 years in collections, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
    • Strong knowledge of collections law, including FDCPA, debtor/creditor regulations, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and litigation processes.
    • Experience in post charge-off recovery, consumer lending, and preferably mortgage or business lending collections.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills with the ability to handle complex or sensitive cases professionally.
    • Proficiency with call center environments and collection software systems, along with strong general PC and office tool skills.
    • Ability to work in a sedentary, detail-oriented role requiring extended computer and phone use.
    • Benefits:

      • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage
      • Employee loan discounts on consumer lending products
      • Tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 annually for eligible full-time team members
      • Paid time off (15 days per year) plus 10+ paid holidays
      • Paid volunteer days to support community engagement initiatives
      • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match up to 8%
      • Remote, hybrid, and in-office flexibility depending on location and role fit
      • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities to support career growth
