Job Description
Hearst E-commerce is a newly formed organization focused on developing and supporting E-Commerce across Hearst's consumer media portfolio, as well as expanding our corporate E-Commerce portfolio via M&A and Strategic Investments. Your Impact
As a new organization beginning to scale our M&A and Investment activity, we are looking for self-motivated individuals that are eager to make an impact to the broader organization by identifying and acquiring and / or investing in unique and strategically relevant assets. We are looking for candidates that are not only interested in facilitating transactions, but also aspire to become high impact finance and business leaders of the future at Hearst. A strong desire to think strategically about investment opportunities and to grow your skills and abilities over time is important. Your role will provide exposure to areas including corporate development, M&A, strategy, business intelligence, financial planning, and business development. In this role, you will get exposure to different Hearst businesses and interface with business leaders and finance professionals across our operations, with visibility at the most senior levels of our organization. Your position will report to the SVP of M&A and Strategic Investments for Hearst E-Commerce.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a member of the M&A and Strategic Investments team for E-Commerce, collaborating with corporate leaders and business stakeholders
- Provide financial analysis, financial modeling support and strategic advisory on projects across a range of sub-industries and operations
- Projects and engagements supporting our organization and businesses, include:
- Evaluating M&A opportunities, conducting due diligence and financial modeling related to potential acquisitions by Hearst E-Commerce
- Develop strategic recommendations based on deep financial analyses
- Developing financial plans to assist in the launching of new product lines or services
- Project management leadership supporting important financial and strategic initiatives
- Present to key stakeholders and senior leadership findings from projects and analyses
- Track and report out on changes to the competitive landscape through regular competitive intelligence memos, including:
- Market-mapping and competitive analysis of relevant segments
- Individual company and / or feature analysis of new innovations from competitors or target companies in the sector
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience (educational or work-related) in investment banking, consulting, private equity, financial analysis, financial planning, and / or accounting
- MBA degree or current MBA candidate preferred
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Proven ability to work across teams and engage a diverse array of stakeholders
Travel & Work Location
The position will be based in New York, NY. Much of the work will be completed out of the New York office. However, travel may be required to other offices or locations, as required, to participate in group offsites and specific projects.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $130,000-$160,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
