Vast is looking for a Machining Engineer responsible for supporting and optimizing the CNC machining work center, including creating planning, new tooling, editing programs, working with Design Engineering to promote Design for Manufacturability (DFM) improvements, and driving quality of hardware being produced.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recognize, cultivate, and execute machining methods to help address cost, lead time, and quality of machined parts.
- Collaborate between production and design engineers, machinists, technicians, and quality workers to guarantee that procedures are durable, and any production issues are rapidly remedied.
- Coordinate with design to recognize and execute design for manufacturing (DFM) updates at both component and system levels.
- Execute machining procedure regulations that permit piece parts to operate with minimal intervention. Utilize the latest technology and programming methods to reduce in-cycle involvement.
- Assume accountability for hardware quality and efficiency. Anticipated to be familiar with the quality atmosphere and handle projects to assure dimensions satisfy engineering requirements with little overhead.
- Push machining methods towards statistical process control. Establish and implement tools necessary to show capability.
- Accountable for the entire machining procedure, starting with fixture design and production, CAM programming and refining, cutting tool selection and approval/inspection methods.
- Routinely challenge each procedure, component, operation to generate the most feasible, trustworthy hardware possible.
- Work with production to make certain that the hardware you are accountable for is provided on time or ahead of schedule.
- Supervise the debut and execution of new items and product modifications, frequently having to manage multiple concurrently.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering
- 2+ years of industry experience, specifically focused on CNC Machining
- Experience creating and modifying CAM programs.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years of experience with at least 1x CAM programming platform.
- Knowledge of multiple machining related techniques such as but not limited to; milling, turning, grinding, CNC programming, and inspection methods.
- Component and/or tooling design and analysis (3D computer-aided design).
- Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts.
- Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry.
- 2+ years of experience specifically focused on high precision machined parts.
- 1+ year of experience with process development from R&D to volume manufacturing.
- 1+ year of experience designing work holding and machining cast or additively manufactured parts.
